In the last couple of days (forgive me father for I am p1ssed) I have noticed something deeper than mere shared ownership feelings emerging....
Boyo rang me with a heartfelt plea... "we NEED to get out into the mountains again - soon" type plea.
I felt his plea on a deeper level than "oh yeah, lets go try break the truck"...
Remember when you passed your driving test?
Remember how it felt when you and your mates, unencumbered by mum and dad went off to Llandudno at 2AM? (We went to Llanbedrog and 3AM in a Nissan Sunny)?
It was a totally new, totally alien feeling wasn't it? My God! We're travelling!!! We can go ANYWHERE!!!!
Well, no, not quite. We could go anywhere where there was tarmac, and that was good enough. It was truly 'awesome'!
Now, us Surf owners... well those of us who want to go offroad, we literally CAN go anywhere. And thats the magic of what we have. The mountain passes with no roads - we can get there. The lakes, the moorland... we can get there. We can see the places that the human soul needs to survive.
My truck, well, when I bought it I wanted it to look like a monster truck - scare greenies and make kids wave. Now, well I dont give a sh1t. All I want is it to work as well as it can offroad. If that means cutting holes here and there so be it. If it means not having the fanciest alloys, so what?
Thats all...
