Rear discs on a 2nd Gen?

Can this be done with a kit or something? I'd like to have discs all round, as the brakes took a real beating this weekend, very hot and lots of fade a few times....

pretty easy if you're any good at fabrication.

handbrake's the trickiest bit... you might need some kind of hydraulic set up.

If I remember correctly, it can be done but it is a dog to do. Involves some decent modding work.

nah... just get a set of front discs and calipers...

find a suitable bracket for the calipers, weld that on the axle.
rip off the old drum, slot the disc on and you're done.

done it on suzukis and not a problem... they have a transmission hand brake so no problems there.

mind you, the 2 i did wouldn't win any prizes... or possibly pass an MOT!!!

but they stopped perfectly fine for off road use!!

it might be worth looking at the rear discs on a soarer or Ls 400 as they have the hand brake drum as an integral part of the disc ,(which is safer than using the disc as a hand brake as shrinkage of the pads/disc can release the brake) all the parts are readily available just shift the hand brake cable to the new drums,run brake pipes to the newly fixed calipers and you are on your way, though it would be a good idea to change the brake master cylinder for a split activator type which operates on diaginally oposite brakes.

I'm sure i've seen a conversion kit advertised which takes escort / mondeo discs & calipers, give LASupertrux a ring, i'm pretty sure it was on their site i saw it.

I initially though of the bigger road toyotas, supra soarer LS400 etc.. but they are 5 stud Hubs.

What about a land cruiser rear axle? with E-Locker I thought they were pretty easy to fit (or is that just on third Gens?)
