1 clear the floor space
2 Set up the towers
3 Cut and pitch the rafters

not a bad days work on me lonesome!!!

It should have been sheeted, lathed and tiled before dinner time.
And the birds mouths shouldn't be more than 1/3 of the width of your rafter.
And you should be using trusses now not cuts.
And i hope you're wind bracing it all.
And i hope you're going to strap the rafters.
And your ridge board looks a little low.

1 Yes, but i did stop and watch the second half of the big game! while i was having a fry-up
2 Original patterns and spec were for 4" x 2" but when you get all that 6" x 2" for 25 quid ya gotta go with the flow!
3 TRUSSES are for wooses who can't cut and pitch!
4 No need for braces yet. ( first 2 rafters are fixed to extension wall!)
5 Can't strap rafters til gable wall is built up !
6 Ridge board is set at perfect height for matching original pitch of house/extension as per planning permission!

as a carpenter i would have the ridge board 1" (25mm) higher than the rafters and still have only cut the birds mouths 2"(1/3) the pitch would have only altered a degree or two and nobody ever measures it anyway! but as already said not a bad job all in all , and i agree with you trusses are for wooses who can't or are are to lazy to cut a roof for speeds sake, soon all the old skills will be lost,if don't run on batteries or electricity then some people can't even cut timber.

WHY have the ridge higher than the rafters???? that just makes it wierd to felt!

so that the top of the ridge is as high as the roof after battening that way if you are using slates then the top of the slates have somewhere to rest and does away with the need for a top batten either side, also for nailing the mop stick over which the lead flashing is fixed to, If you are tiling it gives the morter under the ridge tiles somewhere to grip either side and so reduce the chance of them being blown off.
