We're having a big clear out of old kit at work, so I've been scrounging a few bits. One of my (hopefully) top finds is a pair of spare battery packs from a server un-interruptible power supply. Each pack has 5x 6v 7Ah sealed (non spillable) lead acid battery packs.
I got them home and put my multimeter on them, each pack (5 in series, so should be a 30v pack) was barely registering any voltage. I've wired 8 of them into 4 pairs of 12v packs. Using a wiring loom I have for another project I have them currently connected into my car battery charger, and they appear to be taking some charge.
They will have been sitting in storage for several years, and I have no idea if they will have started out charged or not. So, will they be ok, or are they knackered?
If they are OK, I plan on mounting some into one of the boot cubby holes on a split charge circuit. I will then be able to supply some work lights, phone charger, air pump etc without discharging the main batteries.
