@ 1st gen owners

Right i have a 2LT are parts from the 2L compatable ??
With a LN61 is there a compatable manual ??

I understand that it's the same as a mk 2 pickup to a extent and do not know alot about this vehicle and need to get alot of parts
the list now stands at

Rocker cover gasket
water pump
cam belt
cam belt tensioning spring (missing should there be one???)
fan belts
power stearing pump belt
a cooling pipe
rad cap
thermostat

also a complete oil change

I think i know what i need to order, but need some confirmation

The Max Ellery Diesel Surf manual covers the older 2L as well as the new one.

Have a chat to Barry at Roughtrax, he'll know whats different on the older style 2L's and be able to help you out.

Stevo knows about them as well, from when Sumo did the head on his 1st Gen.

Ah grasshopper you want so much wisdom in so little time

The 2L looks the same but has very slight differences so I would tend to get stuff for a 2lt Ln61
I have got the part numbers for all the belts, water pump and cambelt tensioner spring (somewhere) the spring can be fitted but I never had one and nothing happened to my old 2lt.The rad cap is the same as the carina/carrola of the same year,there was a very old post on here somewhere with the right number for it. Your first step is to make friends with your local toyota main dealer your second step is to get an EPC (electronic parts catalog ) for the 1st gen then find a computer oldenough to run it.My old 98 ran it but for some reason 2000 wont Ive not tried with xp yet.
I'll have a look for tghe other part numbers and post em on here.

The chilterns 4runner mannual is pretty good, go serch amazon that where i got mine from.

Thank you oh ancient first gen owners .....I have just realised what i have undertaken .......As Woodzie with a 2nd gen i had the experiences of lots of other people .......now the people that can help me have gone from hundereds to a handfull.

who the hell doesn't do a complete oil change? what were you doing - a litre per change?
