    ok andy the reason i ask is that it may be a break in the wire to the switch so when you stick it in high range it finds the break is there anyway you can trace the wire to the connector plug under the centre consul and disconnect at ther connector and bridge the connection with a bit of wire.

        If it's the wire / switch at fault maybe you can wire a new switch into the connector that selects 4WD Lo. On the 2.4 this is on the passenger side of the gearbox.

          Just had another thought.

          If you short out the 4WD Lo connector then select Hi, do you still get 4WD?
