We got our retrospective planning approval for the horse arena today!!!

Absolutely over the moon, this ends 3 months of worry about whether we'd wasted £3K and a months worth of effort last year.

In case anyone missed, the same people who complained about me working from home on Surfs, also complained about the horse arena we built, as well as the stables and horses.

The stables have been there more than 10 years, so they where OK, the horse are fine being grazed on agricultural land, so that was OK, but the arena needed change of use from agri, to equestrian cos we would be using the land to ride on, so it became illegal.

Anyway, we put the planning in, with help from Sancho to sort the access and design statment, got 2 letter of objection, but a quick visit to the normal neighbours and got them to send letters of approval and it all got signed off yesterday, with no hassle, and a few minor conditions that are easily workable.

hehe, we could have got lots of smelly cows or pigs, as thats what used to be there, that would have completely legal to have the place covered in mud and poo, and tractors and livestock lorrys coming and going.

but no, the thought of someone having a little quite fun riding a horse at home, instead of having to ride down the narrow lanes dodging traffic and making the place really tidy and neat (and probably increasing their property values as well) never even crossed their minds.

Just the fact that the Parish Council found out something wasn't done correctly, even though it didn't effect them or the village in the slightest, sent them into apoplextic fit of letter writing!

Our neighbour objected on principal, that was it! No decent reason. I think I might go and dump 5 tons of horse poo in his drive 'On Principle' that he stinks.

I think I said once when I was there that I was deeply envious of your field and if I lived there the field would echo to the sound of model plane engines all day.
