3.0TD Or 2.4TD Whats Better ?

To be honest, they're both shite. Buy a BMW X5, much better.

But then again, if you're strapped for cash like the rest of us and can only afford 50p for a 4x4, go for a Pajero. Much better cos you get all that free chrome stuff to save you having to spend all your social money on eBlag rather than on cans of Special Brew. You also get them little dials that you wont ever look at to tell you what angle you reached just before you tip over cos you put your spare wheel on the roof. They cost £80 for add on ones for a Surf!

If you REALLY must buy a Surf (they'll make you a god amongst chavs on your local council estate) then go for a 2.4. They're obviously better cos they blow up more, are cheaper, less powerful, noisier, older, rustier etc etc. Obvious innit?

I have one of each, the 3.0 is MUCH quicker off the mark, smoother, better on the motorway, amazing offroad, does pretty much the same mileage as the 2.4, but you can have a conversation while driving the 3.0.....

well I drive a 2.4TD simply because they hav soul like popeye said,
and I just love them hehe

But I hav to agree on motorway miles I only do 50/56 miles per hour to get a good return on the MPG. (about 30/40mpg)I am gonna rebuild an engine soon and to be honest might get a 3ltr again...
(if I can make it fit that is )

so yeah even tho I think the 2.4 is ace u might be better of in a 3.
If u are worried about the consumption get a manual as they are a little better, but even so they still BINGE DRINK..... hehe

I'll have you know, Mr Kemp - that I spent a long time winding those rubber bands, and it still doesn't get up the hill near your place.....and I have a potential buyer coming on Wednesday, so the auto winder is plugged in now to see if I can get them all tight......

Depends, we are going to drive a couple, will be a 4.2 diesel, no point in going for the 3rd Gen with a coat on, silly rear door too....so it's an Amazon, either the newer (post 99 one) or the Bob Seaborn style......

I'm coming down on Saturday for the day, to sticker-up Marks V6, and get my sliders. Its a week away, I should've slept a bit by then!

The jackable ones bolt to the chassis, the non-jackable ones attach to original step mounts (and are cheaper)

Buy an X-5, like I said. Unless you're really gonna go offroad, then buy a zook!
