  • @ Nero ( Exhaust)

Thanks again Ian for sorting out that exhaust, and saving it for me.

And for the rest of you, I took said Exhaust to Ashford Motorsport ( in Dover ?) and had them fit it, with a side exit.

They had to make up some new pipe at front and rear, but it fits well and looks good too.

How much did they charge for the middle to side exit make up?

They charged me £123.00 to remove the old exhaust, cut and weld the new (ish) one to fit, plasma cut the hole in the bumper and cut and weld the new rear section to side exit.

All in all, I think it was a fair price, as he charged for 1 meter of stainless steel tube, and all new hangers/rubbers, and obviously the VAT.

It is up plenty high enough to be out of the way for all offroad activities not to interfeir with it, unless I'm bogged to the axles

      Edit:

The cost to alter an existing exhaust would basically be about 1 hours labour @ £45-£55 + parts @ approx £10-£15 so lets say £55-£70 total cost.

The cost of the complete exhaust via the web based shops is about £300 + shipping + fitting, so the bespoke SS ones work out a good deal, if you need a whole exhaust from front to back.

            Cheers Rob.
I plan to order a new middle box and then get a side exit bent up or straight out the rear bumper. Not bothering with the rear box. It hasn't had a rear box for months now and is no louder than a full system.

as i understand it a side exit should point down, when I had mine done the fitter said it would be difficult to get it doing that if it came through the bumper and as my off road is minimal I have exited behind the rear wheel and it is angled down, higher than standard, but I suspect if I realy tried I could catch it, but not planning on trying to

I know Apache has had his like that for a while now, don't know if it's been through an MOT, although mine is due for retest on the exhaust only, so I'll see if the man is happy with it.

Are there any law guru's that can say fur sure? any MOT testers, Police officers on the site that can say ........

It will pass the MOT Ok but it'll depend on how 'jobs worthy' your local plod are wether you get pulled for it.

Just don't wheel spin away from the lights all the time, or do donuts in Sainsbury's carpark and you won't draw attention to yourself.

p.s. And don't play any of that europop crap really loud with your windows down as you cruise around too!

The Cobra's exhaust is at ground level though, not blasting babies in the face at pushchair height.

                          BBWWAAHHAAHAHHHAHAAAAA,

I'm 44 years old, in a 20 year old 2.4 surf, ( with a LSD) so no wheel spins, the only dohnuts in sainbury's get eaten, and I only draw attention because I'm so ugly, so hopefully I won't have a problem with the police, unless it's the ugly police!

Oh, PS, and my windows don't work either.
