Starter Motor Trouble?

Hi my lovlies - i need your help...again

My surf starts up beautifully in the mornings - fires up straight away

However, the second start of the day always takes a few seconds and i sometimes think it's not gonna start

Seems to be a bit up and down then during the rest of the day

Only ever takes one turn of the key

Any ideas?

Is it your fuel pump or injectors rather than the starter???

Possibly a vacuum build up in the fuel tank. Before your second start, unscrew the filler cap and listen for a hissing noise.

Toyota want £60 plus vat to tell me and there are no decent garages near me who know owt about 4x4's

If it starts on the turn of the key, when it has been left a while, but once there is fuel sploshing about it gets temperamental, it may be that the problem is in the fuel system rather than with the starter....mine refused to start the other day, cos I'd almost run out of fuel, so the filter and injectors are most likely full of gunge.....

So would you a prescribe a new fuel filter and some reddex then?
