question about kzn185

Hi all.Im hoping to buy a 3rd gen kzn185 as a run around.
Is there anything special to look for or avoid?
I've had my 2.4 for years with never a bit of trouble but this time im going for the extra power.
I've seen a few & one has a bonnet scoop but no intercooler? Is this unusual?
Am i better to go for an intercooled?
Done a few searches but found nothing bad about these models.
Any advice welcome.

hello mate.

Just look out for all the normal stuff, check for leaks, saggy suspension, and the like. I dont have an intercooler and the power is good not had any issues with mine.

Bonnet scoop and no intercooler is either a non-intercooled truck that someone's put an intercooler bonnet on, or more seriously, could be an intercooled truck thats been re-engined for some reason. Either way, I wouldn't touch that one unless the seller offers an acceptable explanation.

Ive seen that one advertised on Ebog. I think its had a bonnet change so may have had a front end crash.

some people say the seats are uncomfortable... i've never noticed though...

take it for a nice long drive and see what it's like

No real weak spots on a KZN185 occasionally the rear anti-roll bar brackets break cheap and easy to fix, better seats and crash protection then a mk2 the floorpan front firewall inner front valences and most of the running gear is shared with the Landcrusier Colarado/Prado.
