  • Favourite Films?

Thanks to Apache who triggered my memory, as I wanted to start this thread last week but forgot. Basically what's your favourite/top films or 'trilogy' etc?

I don't know what criteria makes a fillm a favourite, whether it's based on how many times you watch it, or whether it's an odd one but a masterpiece.

Personally I think the undisputed best film would be Lord of the Rings Trilogy (while admittedly this is one I can't watch too often, I do think it is the best).
Star Wars of course could be argued for, due to how well it was done at the time, and I don't think you can forget the Indiana Jones lot

Ones that I can watch over and over though are:

The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
    Leon
    National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (haha)
    The Fifth Element

But I think one of my favourites has to be The Bourne Trilogy.

What about yours? (as I think my list would be endless so had better stop here)

If you're working on the how many times viewed method:

      1) Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
      2) Mickey's Christmas Carol
      3) Star Wars Trilogy
      4) Bourne Conspiracy
      5) Calamity Jane
      6) Matrix
      7) Dirty Dancing

And before anyone says it, I don't care.

What About Mad Max / Road Warrior

Mad Max was a memorable triology.
Plenty of violence, weird costumes, suped up cars & bad acting made the films fun to watch.

Mad Max 2 was my favourite.

With a user name like snorkel & your liking for the film life aquatic does that mean you are either a mad keen diver or a fan of Jacques Cousteau?

        Cheers Matt

hehe - yeah both I guess - I do like my diving!(Instructor). As for Jacques Cousteau (he part designed modern SCUBA!), and I'm a marine biologist (if by degree only). As the profile says I'm a member of Team Zissou! (and I have the red beanie to prove it! )

ah yes, glad you mentioned that. I really like that long sequence when he and the horse are in the field just staring each other out (but I think only the people into wildlife and horses will understand it fully)

yeah Mad Max's Falcon looks awesome. Looking forward to the day I can get something or the 'type' - but definately want a Mustang!

Edit: yes, I forgot about The Transporter! cool film!

OH and don't forget TAXI!! (the original french version!!) that is cool!

                    XXX
oh come now! you can't REALLY mean that, we're talking TOP films here

hehe I think this is pretty interesting. Definately some trends appearing in the lists above. However, I think I few are just put in that people just like rather than their BEST films (ah hem Apache - 40yr old virgin! surely not, lol)

I'm actually temped to put in Cloverfield as a tentative placement. Did enjoy that one heaps.
