oil gauge

I purchased my first surf 3 weeks ago a 2.4 litre td 1991 77,000 miles,i know absolutely nothing about the mechanics of the car but i noticed when i was on motorway yesterday the oil gauge went up to the 3/4 mark sitting about 60mph,i remember reading in here about keeping an eye on oil & temp gauge,i was sweating buckets eyes glued to it till i got to my destination,i noticed when i came on to a 40mph road it went down to middle of gauge,as i said earlier i know nothing about them and was wondering if this is normal another reason i am asking is i got one months engine/gearbox warranty and its up next week.would be grateful for any info

If its the oil gauge its oil pressure not temp, and the more beans you give it the higher it should go, 3/4 at 60 tells me your engine is in good shape. Coolant should stay in middle of gauge when warmed up.
