i looked at a truck at the weekend, and the part circled in green had been lowered about 2" or more.
is this the diff drop kit? im just trying to get my head around all this lifting malarkey..

so, to evaluate, the lower arm wasnt pointing upwards from the wheel like in the pic. the joint closer to the diff end, had been lowered about 2". this meant that the lower arm was parallel with the ground.

That would not have been a diff drop kit - wrong place.

Probably you were looking at a suspension lift - but the type that Tony and Linda have on the Bullet - its more expensive but the correct way to do a front suspension lift - all components (arms etc) are moved and everything stays in line.

Can't remeember the make though, sorry.

And the bit circled in green is called the (inner) end of the lower wishbone.

I would imagine to maintain correct front geometry, if you fit a spacer in the upper wishbone (the red circled bit) then you would need to fit the same thickness spacer in the bit you circled in green.
