Well thought it was high time i posted a couple of pics of the new smurf.

Well i have had it over a month now and not got round to it. Then i posted pics of landies and a pajero - i was starting to feel guilty.

So here she is in all her glory, nice and clean (sort of)... still undecided as to how long she's gonna stay this way.

it's singleton lake in ashford, was a good lake to fish once upon a time. There were some big carp in it and some nice tench + bream. They banned night fishing on it, and there were a lot of problems with gear being nicked and so on. About 15 years ago the car park would have been full every weekend people fishing and so on, now you're lucky if there's a single car in it.

Dunno buddy, got a few bits off the old one to swap over, but don't wanna trash this one, would like to aim it more as a support/touring vehicle than out and out mud plugger. Equally though it owes me virtually nothing so if i do trash it it's no major hardship - i'm torn.

My current plan is to start work on a pickup based winch challenge truck round about this time next year. So would be ideal to keep this one nice til then and use it as a tow vehicle, just depends whether i can resist the call of the mud...

... or blag borrowing this enough to satisfy the cravings

never bothered with conningbrook, it's about £450 a year membership to just get on there now + u have to be a member for at least a year on a lower tier membership before you can get the top tier that includes conningbrook, no daytickets or anything. Since the UK record carp came out of there it's gone stupid. I know people who have fished it regularly for 2 or 3 years without getting anything on the bank.

Elphicks over at Goudhurst (near tunbridge wells) is a nice place to fish. not overly cheap but it's all available on dayticket and a good selection of lakes. http://www.elphicks-fisheries.co.uk/.../lakes_map.htm Plantation is a nice lake, not easy to fish though, it's very shallow all the way across and quite small. Prairie is easier but the fish do tend to be smaller, saying that i've seen catfish come out of it a few times at around 20-25lb and had various carp upto around 15lb, beautifully marked fish aswell. North lake has some huge catfish and carp in, and i will get back up there and fish it properly for a few days sometime soon. Last time i went was 2 days / 1 night in novemeber and my only take was 3 am the temperature was down to about -6 and by the time i got out the sleeping bag i'd missed it.
