I was looking at this not so long ago and no, it's not that simple, as the sky box uses encryption you can't copy the files directly...

only way is to use video capture of some sort, best solution I reckon is get a cheapy dvd burner.

I upgraded the hard drive in the Sky + box itself.... from its original 40GByte to a more usuable 250 GByte..cost about £80.00 for the right drive...took 10 minutes to do..

Lots of guides on how to on the net...

might of known it was`nt got to be that simple.

There`s that many captured clips on youtube, i thought it was going to be easy

my colleague told me he swapped his hard drive pretty much as soon as the sky bloke left. now has a 750gb.

its as easy as putting in a blank one. then selecting an option on the menu to build the partition and format.

google is your friend on this one though.. i expect someone would have wrote a program by now to get the recorded progs off

If it's any help, my missus has been copying from the Sky+ to a VCR for certain programs that she wants to keep. Seems to work OK.

I use the older version of this connected to a laptop.

I then use Studio to edit and render as required.

Nice 750 GBytes .... i am jealous.... just research it on the net... some drives are better others seek / access times etc... strangely enough i think the beast prefers a slower drive.... not the screamers..
