Can anyone help me with a problem i have with my ln130 2.4 surf, just lately i have been having very rough starting and kicks out a load of black smoke, only seem to get problem when starting first time say for example being left overnight after that its always fine. Have replaced both batteries and full set of glow plugs, have removed all injectors and have had them tested at diesel specialist, still have same problems next thing is valve stem seals but not sure about this as it is black smoke not blue? Will be taking it back to diesel specialist for a compression test, would a cracked head give me this symptom?

Have you checked the 80A fuse for the glow plugs?
Mine keeps blowing as I have a short in the circuit. Where the leads join the glow plug bar the insulation can break down, hoping that's the problem with mine.My other cars a QUAD

smoky and rough starting
Just done all my filters and checked around turbo area, still suffering same problem (very rough starting fom cold but once engine has warmed up and cleared its throat no problem and no significant loss of power), have taken it back to diesel specialist and he has done a few test on the fuel system and was unable to fault but says engine breather is breathing heavy and oil passing back through the breather to the turbo also when engine revs to around 2000rpm from cold engine knocks very badly, he has advised to remove head to see whats going on, So this is my dillema considering it has done 100k miles do i spend money on this engine or have a refurbished engine fitted?

Change your glowplugs first mate, definitley!!!! If theyre gone itll be rough as heck, smokey and knockin like hell. Changem first and see what happens, wait for glowplug light to go out in the morning and wait until there is a beep from the dash then turn her over.
That "should" solve it mate, particularly if its only when cold.Without Surf And Unhappy

i am currently breaking a 2.4
so if you need any bits give me a shout,
it was all on the button till yesterday when i took the head off it,
clean as a pin,
no knocking from the bottom end,
maybe worth you buying the bottom end and haveing it refurbed,
then you wont be off the road for so long,
