Easiest way to tell the Turd gen from a 2nd gen is to look in the glove box and load area. A Turd gen will be full of hairdressing paraphernalia, 2nd gens will be clear of all such equipment.

If the truck turns into a lump of molten plastic it's a third gen.
If it survives with a little scorching, it's a 2nd gen.
1st gens won't make it to the test area!

is there like a version 2.5? reason i ask is some people say the gen 3 has the gear lever and low range lever the other way round to a gen 2 but i've seen some gen 2's with the later dash and the gear levers the same as the gen 3 this is so confusing!
