how do all! newbie here so break me in gently! im looking at getting a 3.0l surf and you all go on about gen 2 or gen 3 but how do i know just by looking at them which is which? does it go by reg year or is it something as simple as the headlights are a different shape?

also what if any are the differences between the ssr and the ssg versions? i know about the mirror in the spoiler but is there anything else?

and last question is how many miles do they do to a tankful and how much does it cost to fill them up?

the first mods i plan are a 2" body lift and a 3" suspension lift if possible as i do like the look of them being a bit taller and on bigger wheels but are there any downsides though to doing this?

If the tailgate opens UP it's a Turd Gen, if it goes down it's a 2nd Gen.

I wouldn't worry about the differences, the japs seem to have emptied to theoptions book on their surfs

and last question is how many miles do they do to a tankful and how much does it cost to fill them up? This depends on how heavy the foot is, and if you cruise a lot or belt it/in town driving but you should get 30+ for a turd gen.

I think you will need to check/extend the steering, check the gear lever mountings, brake lines etc.

They forgot to mention that the colours are in REVERSE order ....

          PS
          Burgundy isn't a colour it's a mediocre French wine

Life is too important to take seriously !

BTW you asked way too much for a first post. my head hurts.

                only joking.

If you hang around here and even do a couple of searches you will find loads of interesting info and stuff you never even considered asking about.

Mark , Your from oxfordshire - clearly your likely to be a person of high intelligence, I'll spare you my preferance of colour because you already know that black is the best one..

Ive got a 2nd gen i love the damn thing BUT if i wasnt held back by a budget i think a 3rd gen would be a nice truck to fall in love with! more power, more space, better MPG figures. but its still a surf underneath it all.

Either way you wont go wrong mate! So just hop on board an enjoy it

Yes it is - great looking car BUT

                              It hasn't got an intercooler

                              AND

                              it's a very slow colour
