and i ran this past proffesor terry clark today,an eminent physicist who now lives in tromso.he said that it wouldnt take off , he told me to consider it in a linear term with no fixed reference, and do the maths,he then told me to bugger off as he was going out,i did the transformation and it was quite long winded, and as it turned out the no fly was right, but only theoretically

the rather ambiguous wording has thrown up the confusion, but,

(and priding meself on non biased science) the theory breaks at u=0
i can accept that the object will move forward,but...and its a big but
it does start to violate the potential energy law thingy(cant remember its name)

it was easier for me to grasp when i considered the problem in reverse

what happenswhen a plane lands on a moving conveyor, that runs backwards relative to the planes motion, consider the situation to be ideal,ie no friction etc and what happens....

oh and after tumble drying a load of towels one day,i cleaned the filter and it was like the biggest ball of belly button fluff you have ever seen,so i rolled it up,stuffed it into my belly button and went to show the wife !!

for some reason she wasn't impressed

                  • If you are referring to light, then watts isn't enough (unless you are talking about power consumption of said light source).

If you are talking incident light, you need to specify area too, as in W/cm2.

                            • What if there was a conveyor belt on the plane, with another smaller plane on that one - which would take off first?
