I work in operating theatres, in fact i am here now!!! just so you know we give loads of general anesthetics and things very rarely go wrong. We are good at what we do, that is look after you and keep you pain free and most importantly keeping you alive. have a good chat with the team that will be looking after you not only the doctors but the nurses and theatre staff too (if you get a chance) and they will be able to put your mind at rest and let you know you will be in the best hands possible. Good luck and i hope you make a speedy recovery and it all goes well for you.
EDIT: when i say we i know i work in plymouth and your not comming here but us theatre lot are the same all over really.
