  • new rescue GSD!

picked up our new dog yesterday from wales. another rescue german shepherd dog, he's about 18months - 2 years old and very laid back. loves travelling in the surf ( which now has a few new scratches on the tailgate from big paws!)

i'll post up some pics when i can. his name is Luca (was Kruger but much discussion with family led to this being changed to save the nightmares!) and he's a long haired. very different to our old dog Max but just as much fun!!!

BTW, i ran 50/50 on veg oil and diesel to get there plodding along at 60-70mph and the tank was full when i left. when i got to Coedely in wales it5 was half way between quarter and half full. i then filled up with diesel and with the added weight of the dog and a 15kg bag of dog food i then put my foot down and was doing approx 75 - 80mph all way back. and when i got home i'd only used half tank. so with increased veg oil prices, i think i'm better off sticking to diesel. and i'd covered the same distance each way too - no diversions on way up or delays or anything that could use that much more fuel.
i swear, it was like that when i got here...

he was found wandering about 5 months ago. very underweight but friendly. the lady who found him fed him and got him vaccinated and ready to be rehomed.

it's mind boggling how anyone could've let him go because he's stunning. you'd have to pay alot of money to get a GSD as striking as he is...but there are always so many remarkable dogs in rescue centres. our last GSD was a rescue dog but with nervous aggressive tendancies and not a great past.

but this dog's so cool i can't see how anyone could let him go?!?!?

i have a 8 year old gsd that started life in a rescue home, most loving dog i have had, but she is arthritic in her front shoulders now but still plays like a pup she can play with our other rescue dog a springer for hours but take her for a 10 min walk and we have to carry her back to the car or home as she will be wimpering in pain
Surf.gone but not forgottendisco now gone aswell

rescue homes can be a good thing, they was advertising on tv about adopting pets cause so many get put down each year, i would love another dog but when you say you got young kids they say sorry, i still miss my springer i had n so do my kids but do think it might have been a mistake with the breed for us as a family as it nearly had the baby one day do understand in one way but another i dont as so many dogs want a loving home

a friend of ours has had about 5 dogs and keeps sending them to homes cos she's wierd!!...

one was genuinely mentally ill... it wagged it's tail so hard against the wall that it bled and sprayed blood all over the house!!

but the others, she can't do with them making a noise!!... she has a staff at the moment and hates it running round cos it's claws make a noise on the floor!!!!

Mrs Slug want's to give her one of the kittens but i've said NO!!!... if the dog doesn't eat it, she just won't look after it properly!

even her Son's not looked after properly!... he stays up late watching horror films and shouts swear words at her ( he's only 8!!!)... he's one of these who has "problems" (adhd or whatever)... but i reckon a good old fashioned kicking and proper discipline would do the trick!!

in summary: this is how nice dogs get put in rescue centres!
nee nar nee nar, i'm a fire engine!

and until people like her are punished for doing this, then good animals will continue to find themselves homeless or worse, put down. people like her make me wish i had a gun!
