now im no specialist but i would say that the steel on all the panels is a few microns thinner than the 2gens, when polishing(yes you now the stuff toyoto did to your pride and joy when they had finished making it) the 3 gen feels tiney
ahh, So - if you wanted, you could have the paint removed an then the bumper chrome plated??

i understand what you mean about the tin feeling. IMHO the 2nd gen facelift bumper feels a lot thinner then the non facelift models!

    Im probably wrong though

no i was refering to the panels ie bonnet wings doors and roof

BTW surfs with colour coded bumpers dont rust like the chromed ones for some reason, my k plated grey bumpered surf had no rust whatsoever inside or out, same goes on my 3gen AFAIK only the chrome bumpered surfs suffer from bumper rot
BTW did i mention the word bumper!
Surf.gone but not forgottendisco now gone aswell

Cheers for all the opinions. I knew this topic would open a can of worms!!

I had a look at the dundry bristol offroad website - looks good, anyone here been there?

Because I had a 2nd gen. I feel I am still drawn to them but can see the benefit of 3rd gens. Don't seem to be many 3rd gens around under the 4k mark though.

I can see there are a few petrol ones but looking to run on veggie so need to stick to diesel really!

Ah well, I will continue to look!

          Cheers
