Veg oil/Diesel Mix Ratio

Being lazy here and cannot be bothered to search previous threads!!

What ratio can I use at this time, temp is around 7 - 10 degrees down here? Have no mods to the engine for oil, but ran it last yera up until October on around 70% veg to 30% diesel with no probs and it didn't miss a beat.

Any advice, gratefully received as usual,

Still on 100%, not had any dino in since May, but then again I do have the heater, and Hippo normally lives on the motorway, when she does go into town she can get the hump a bit though.

Still running at least 50/50 local n 70/30 long distance if that helps ...

Cheers chaps, gonna pop out tomorrow and get some oil in that case and have a go with 50-50, unless the temp drops dramatically

running 50/50 at the mo with no probs, did drop to 25% veg fo a week when the forcast was for -17 (in scotland!) probably would have been ok just didn't want to risk loads of snow ( I wish) and the truck not starting. will go back to 70/30 as it warms up.

I tend to put 15 litres in then top up with diesel. Are the tanks about 60 litres???? if so I guess I am running about 70/30 with no ill affects at all (except for the donut smell which the monkeys at Knowsley Safari Park seemed to like)

Tanks 65L.
I ran 100% on Saturday and did a 210 mile round trip. Bit sluggish at start up but when the coolant is up to temp no probs at all. Gave the beast a good thrashing and did the journey in 1 hour 30 mins each way.

You say "when the coolant is up to temp", so does that mean you are using a fuel heater then?

Yep, I'm using the dual glow plug and coolant 1 that I got from Saverbee on eblag. There's a couple of others on here that have them as well.

Ok. I am not using a fuel heater at the moment, hence the original posting, but may now consider a heater. Do you have a contact number/address for the person that's selling them?

Surely after a while (engine running at normal terperature) the fuel on the return to tank side has the same effect as a Fuel heater (in theory) if only at a reduced temperature ....

i whack 20l in straight from macro then fill up ! ! ! never had a problem ! well sometime's i find it difficult to get the empty 20l oil container in the bin at shell/texaco/bp ect.........apart from that i love it ! ! !

government should do itself a favour . . . . . . . lol ! ! !

So how many of you lot have changed fuel pump seals yet then?

I (or should I say, Tony) did mine last october after a dose of 100% finally killed them. I'm quite wary about using more than about 30% in the winter now, and probably wont run 100% again, if only to safeguard my seals.

Anyway the way prices are going, it wont be worth it anymore before long, unless you've got a reliable source of WVO.
