VIN code frustration!!

First off, hello to all you fellow Surfers. This is my first ever thread on the Forum. I have been trying to check out a VIN number for an unregistered 1995 SURF 3.0 SSR-X. Carfax and Autocheck cannot search anything other than 17 digits, but i'm sure most of you will know that the Jap imports only have 13...well, this one does anyway. My local Toyota dealer could tell me the model + spec but I already know that I need to find out if this has a dodgy history before attempting to register it.

Any suggestions appreciated...

Thanks very much for that. I gave it a go but without success i'm afraid It asks for an "8 digit Toyota VIN" but mine is 13 and if I exclude KZN130 it's down to 7 - the first three being zeros.
I tried a few things anyway but all I got was "Internal Server Error" messages. I'd be pulling my hair out if I had some!!
