  • vinigar down my glow plug hole

ok so this evening marked the first series of events that will either leave me with a perfect 2.4 again with 4 brand new glow plugs ready for anything veg oil burner.. (right now it starts fine, but just sounds like a tractor for a minute or so, and i cant run as high a % of veg because of the broken plug tip) or not...

so i removed the glow plug i put in there to block the hole up 'just in case' and poured my mums clear vinigar in there to let it soak.
the engine was still red hot, so now it does smell like a fish n chip resturant.. cooking oil and vinigar :/

anyway, a hour or so went passed and i went out to top it up because i suspected some to evaporate with the heat.. and it did so.

so come tomorrow morning, i will crank her over with nothing to heat the glow plugs to see if that 22:1 compression will blow it free.
if this fails, then i have my long screw to screw into the end of the plug and use some pliers to pull it free.
if this dont work then its time to get the drill out. but that will be next week. i need to source a bit that is the right size.
you can clearly see there can only be two outcomes

              Make that 3

Vinegar is a weak acid, it might soften the carbon thats sticking the plug in.

If you can't get the plug out be very careful drilling the remains out, Swarf in the cylinder will not be good for your engine

I am a little bit lost. Why have you put vinegar in your engine?

Theres a book about vinegar and all its uses, A thousand uses for vinegar or something like that. Did you find the chapter on removing broken glow plugs then ?? Or if it works will you be contacting the publisher ??

Throw spuds in the turbo and chips should come out the exhaust.

i forgot to say.. (sorry 4 hours sleep)

when i drill it out, ive been given some advice that im to coat the drill bit in silicone or really thick grease and down the hole. then im to drill a bit, clean the filings off the drill, re-apply sticky stuff and carry on
