Oh dear - wish I'd seen this yesterday ........

    1. I was in Thames Valley Park (about 2 miles or so down the road)

    2. I had the Surf with me

    3. I keep a strop in the boot

    4. I would have had some light relief from all the crap at work

Let me know when you're next allowed out to play and I'll see if herself will let me have the Surf again (just in case !)

Life is too important to take seriously !

Nice truck! wicked looking mud... I have been stuck in many a farmers field, I know how you feel (I don't Know why I admitting that?)

Previous experience of farmers being either P****d off or not interested. P****d off i find better as it means they don't want you there and are accepting of money to help get rid of you.

However past experience there not gentle with tractor.

        Good luck

I see every one has had a laugh at your mishap, but is this not the exact things that gives 4x4 owners / off roders such bad press, only takes one person to mess it up for the others. You said it didnnt have a sign to say keep out, what difference does that make, the land belongs to some one.I got a 4x4 did greenlanning but some have been closed to us,as some tracks got to bad to drive as people drove them no matter how wet or muddy they were.sorry to sound like an old fart but that pic just wound me up.If you want to trash round a field please find a P&p site

Sorry but no signs, no gates, no crops... its fair game there aren't even any public foot paths as its pretty much unpassable, unfarmable, un buildable on flood plane land. I get people up my drive way that is private... right now there is no sign (It fell down) so thats fair game too. There will be no excuse when the sign goes back up. I am sure if it was really that bad, the police that stopped to see if they could offer assistance would have at least passed a comment!

I've been trying not to mention this side of it as the thread was funny, but someone need to answer this comment.

It ISN'T fair game, if its not a public road or you have the owners permission you shouldn't anywhere near it.

                          Its as simple as that.

Fourshoes is right, all this does is give the anti 4x4's fools all the ammo they need.

                            Thanks Brian

I have met a few of us now on Internet!

This looks like a great forum, lots of useful advise and some interesting characters.

I have been trying to decide what 4x4 to get for about a year. Always fancied a Toyota Hilux pickup. Test drove the new one (excellent i didn't want to take it back to the showroom, but I eventually did covered in mud ) also tried the new Navara (c**P) I had it out for the afternoon and took it back after only about an hour didn't like it at all too heavy and hard work off road and country lanes.

I very nearly got the hilux but I prefer the look of the Surf especially the Gen 1996. But as of yet I haven't driven the Surf only the hilux so I'm hoping I like the drive of it.

They look great axle deep in mud like the one on this thread.

Sorry for deviating slightly from thread!

I have to agree with last reply, not good to go on private land without permission. I have done it before but unintentionally, (it is tempting though especially when it looks soo good)

Big no-no I'm afraid ilegal offroad driving on someone elses land. The Police would have taken a pretty dim view if they were interested. First offence will result in a Fixed Penalty Notice or fine of up to 1000 pounds. For a second offence you will lose your vehicle and fine of up to 20,000 if it is found you caused 'intentional damage'. So- even straying a few yards off a Byway and creating a few ruts could cost you!

Tony is correct .......even on the plains the military are barred from some areas. the Mud club would have crucified you if you had been on there .

This is how they feel about a byway being distroyed on the plain
                                http://www.mud-club.com/forum/index....c,53328.0.html

When we did this route at xmas ......ALL trucks had to follow the byway

Yes karma's predicament was funny BUT we must not abuse our rights to offroad too much or they will be removed by the bobble hats
