It's not the sort of 'Lez action' I had in mind when I googled it..

it says my truck is ok, and i dont have too pay, i was led to believe that this only affected commercial vehicles, and i think if your truck is coming up as having to pay you need to contact dvla and get the class of vehicle changed.

            Vehicles affected

The Low Emission Zone (LEZ) will affect older, diesel-engined lorries, buses, coaches, minibuses and large vans (exceeding 1.205 tonnes unladen weight).

It will also affect other specialist vehicles that are derived from lorries and vans, including motorised horse boxes, breakdown and recovery vehicles, refuse collection vehicles, gritters, sweepers, concrete mixers, tippers, removals lorries, fire appliances, motor caravans, ambulances and large hearses (over 2.5 tonnes).

There will be a phased introduction of the LEZ from 4 February 2008 through to January 2012. Different vehicles will be affected over time and increasingly tougher emissions standards will apply.

AS SANCHO SAID THIS DOES NOT EFFECT CARS. THE SURF IS A CAR AS IS A LANDROVER UNLESS IT HAS BEEN MODIFIED AS A RECOVERY VEHICLE,

Why O Why would anyone want to go to London and even if you were mad enough to want to why go in a Surf.

If you live there I already feel sorry for you this is just a kick in the balls to far vote Ken out.

LR Hardtops and pickups will be affected, station wagons won't. In the same way that hilux pickups more than likely will, but surfs won't.

just run my reg number through the grinder and it says its ok and not affected "at the moment"!!! so to get goods into the city now one assumes that the goods are wharehoused outside the zone and then relayed in, in intsywinsy little vans, ain't that going to make everything expensive? could be costly if you breakdown and have to call a breakdown truck within the zone, i wonder what idiot thought this one up? i bet he has a beard and rides a bike and or a bus to work and doe'snt realise that there is a world outside the M 25.

Money, that's why. And endless drinking opportunities.

If you actually read it, it doesn't affect any commercial vehicle manufactured after 2001 or 2002 (depends on type) either. It's just to keep all the smoke-belching shitheaps out, which is probably a good thing.

Incidentally, I either ride a bike or get a bus to the tube station, then get a train to work. And I am working on a marvelous ginger beard at the moment. What is outside the M25?

does this mean all the hilux owners will sell up and buy Surfs instead ???
our house will be inside the zone ive seen the signs up already to screw lorry owners from Feb.
Surely some will be able to use more smaller vans rather than a few large ones... most people though will be knackered I imagine. Ken is an idiot - always has been.
