It says mine is exempt (96 Gen3), but it only appears to apply to commercial vehicles anyway, not private cars.

this is what it says about mine for the 2010 regs..
"Non-compliant - Based on the information you have entered and information held by Transport for London (TfL), the vehicle is classified as not meeting the emission standards for the Low Emission Zone (LEZ).
While the vehicle is non-compliant, when it is used in the Zone the daily charge must be paid otherwise you will be liable for a penalty charge.
For information on how to comply with the LEZ click here. Your vehicle may be classified as non - compliant if it holds a Reduced Pollution Certificate (RPC) or a Low Emissions Certificate (LEC) that expires before the date shown. If your certificate is renewed in the future then the vehicle's compliance status will be updated from the date of renewal.
Emissions classification for these dates is based on the Vehicle Type and the age of the vehicle."it's in me shed, mate.

Just checked mine on their compliance tester and it says i'm OK til 2010
after that it won't be compliant.
It isn't just for larger vehicles either,, if you read thru some of the pages they are going by weight and as far as i recall the Surf is over 1.5 ton which brings it into the "non compliance" group.
Just another con scheme to pay for the mayor's onterage and christmas ball etc.etc.
Cheers
