Have you read all the H&S and finance stuff???? And insurance, training, ID stuff.....it goes on.....there is a lot of red tape to get through on setting one up - but if you have the time and the means to do it - then cool!

like mud said though, there is an awful lot of paperwork to get it going and affilliated,but.....and its a big but.....it does sound very worthwhile, and a great response to the bobble hat brigade.i remember during the floods down this way (about 7 years ago or so) when for example uckfield was under water, the emergencey services were appealing for 4x4 drivers to assist them.i think it would be a great idea

Been involved with voluntary committees before. Its NOT somewhere I will willingly go again!

Dont like this comment either, but typical of the 'our way is the only way' attitude of voluntary committee types...

"there is no good reason why a 4x4 Response Group should not do likewise to set itself apart from, say, the local off-road club"

Seems rather derisory to the local off-road club, whose members have probably forgotten more about off-road driving than the stuffed-shirted, Land Rover driving gits will ever know!

If you're figuring out that its not my scene, you'd be right.

To be honest i've not given it a lot of thought before, but i do believe there is a call for such a group in our area. I will certainly 'proceed with caution' though.

Would be good to canvass opinion from "local off road clubs" too

Just been looking thru the forum on that site and it appears there are a couple of people already trying to set up a kent group. I'll get in touch with them asap and let you know what happens!
