  • Spotlight Dimmer Switch?

Fitted the roof bar lights over the holidays and they look very nice, if I say so myself. I was wondering if it was possible to wire them up to some sort of dimmer switch so that they could be dimly (is there such a word) illuminated?

I've seen trucks with a similar set up but I believe the lights they have fitted are the ones that have sidelight bulbs as well as the main beam ones.

Is this dimmer switch idea plausible (some sort of variable resistor) or is it a no go?

    Thanks for any advice.

Let me make sure I understand this - you want a dimmer switch for your spotlights????? Do you park in the lounge?

You want the Angel Eye lamps - they are most likely to be the ones you've seen...

Don't see why you can't put a variable resistor into the circuit somewhere - not sure how - ask Apache

Yeah, I know it sound extremely odd. It's not angel eye rims I'm after mate, I've got these fitted to my BMW. My main spots on the truck have two bulbs in them, a small side light bulb and the main H4 halogen.

It's just one of those 'personal' mods that most folk on here like to have. A strange one I'll grant you that, but it keeps me happy!

don't some of the old MR2s and early corrolla's have something a bit similar, not a dimmer as such but the headlights come on partially lit with the ignition or something, it's definately not the sidelights it is actually the headlight bulbs that glow dimly somehow? I'm pretty sure i've read it somewhere, i'm not 100% sure i've got the right cars though.

On a 12v system? Yeah, thanks for your help. Just coz it ain't a body or suspension lift question (again) or another, 'can I use veggie oil in my Surf' post, it solicits this kind of reply?

A simple, 'no sorry mate it can't be done', would have sufficed. Hopefully a sensible answer will be along shortly.
