Whats all the gears for????

Could someone please tell me in a bit of detail what are all the extra gears are for on my auto 2.4 surf..
I have (2) and (L) on my normal lever, but I have another gear stick which I don't know what its used for.
I am wanting to go off road soon, will i need to use the other gear-stick. If so what gear do i use.

because the surfs are so brilliant ,they supply you with an extra lever to stir the fuel before it gets to the engine
