is there a mod you can do to make the truck stay in its last gear?

if im on an A road or keeping at just above 40, the truck is in the last gear and it pulls nicely. but if it goes up a slight hill or too much below 40, i still feel i have power because it pulls but if i press too hard it changes down gear and doesnt pull any harder unless i put my foot down more.

set backs of an auto i suppose. but was wondering if there was a way i could wire up a button or switch that would make the ecu keep it in its last gear until i turned it off - would just have to remember to turn it off or else the 2.4 would be slow (very)

Good idea in theory, but it changes up so as not to labour the engine, so probably wouldnt be good for the transmission to force it to do summit that it aint designed to.

      Leave the overdrive off!!!!

Or get a Tiptronic 'box, like I have on the 'Batmobile'.

no but i want the overdrive on! and not to come off..

i know what you mean about labouring the engine, but the turbo boost doesnt even get to 8psi before it changes down and i loose boost.

i mean that there could be a whole torque band at that RPM but the ecu goes and loses it by changing down :/

its probably a better idea not to play with anything though. i dont want to break anything else

There is a lot of info on this mod on the Mitsubishi Delica site, something to do with altering the TPS volts.

I think you would be amazed at how well these do offroad.

This lifted and fitted with muds example never got stuck where many did on my last trip out

okay okay.. this is exactly what i want to do, but no fussed about tweaking. i would be happy with a switch or something i can turn on or off to make it simply.
but i found out the TPS is the throttle position sensor.

now i understand our engines are fly by wire. so if i play with the tps voltage i think it would alter the fuel into the engine which would be bad

                          anyone else have any input?
