No, u dont have to fit B/J spacers if u dont want to. But if u fit 2 inch spring spacers, then the rear will sit higer than the front. But if u want to level it out a bit, u could do one of 2 things. Crank the torsion bars up or fit the ball joint spacers.
Dont quote me though, as someone will probably say something else.

They're gonna work out at around £100 after they get to the UK, which is more expensive than a new set of longer springs...

BJ spacers mean you dont have to wind up the torsion bars as much as the lift is given by the spacers rather than the torsion bars, so ride is less bouncy than lifting via torsion bar tension alone.

I agree with Apache on that. The spring spacers r a very expensive way to lift the back 2 inches. And as to the torsion bar thing, i fitted b/j spacers, pro comp plus 3 shocks and cranked the torsion bars up a little. The front was really soft in comparison to the rear. This time, when fitting it all to my 3 litre, i did left the torsion bars as they r and it sits level and the ride stiffness is even front and rear.
It depends on how much work u r willing to put into it i think.

thanks guys, i will get 2 rear 2" lift springs from rough trax.
theres nothing wrong with the springs on the car but i may aswell fit new springs than some plastic spacer, i didnt realise the springs were so cheap.

you can fit landcruiser springs on the back, they are meatier than any surf spring.i did this and fitted bj spacers as well, and got about 2 and a half inches of lift all round

I actually WANT the front softer though.

I've found that just cranking the torsion bars up for the same height as the LC springs at the back has left the front too harsh / hard when offroad, and I think its causing problems regarding articulation - ie preventing it at the front.

I have my spacers in my shed, now all I need is weather / motivation to fit them, and cut down the bump stops, and fit some nice TJM shocks at the front...

my front end is soft.i had the lc springs and bj spacers put on at the same time(as advised by tony n) the effect has been that the height front and rear is damm near the same and i have never touched the torsion bars,so another plus is i have really good articulation as well.after chatting with stein on friday we both agreed taht this set up (lc springs,bj spacers and not touching the torsion bars) was a really good set up

Good oh! Thats the set-up I'm aiming for. What shocks have you got on the front Graham?

Yeah, think I'm gonna go for TJMs from Tony in the New Year.

Got 3000s at the back, which work but I'm not impressed with the quality.

Andy have you notice at all if either of the rear springs have been rubbing on the shocks at all. I noticed on mine today that the drivers side spring has been rubbing the shock

TonyN is in Basingstoke. I paid about £550 for my lifts using the L/Cruiser spring method
