Quoting huge chunks of text is fine, big gaps are fine, quoting a post with 20 odd pictures in without just deleting the pictures from the quote is $$$$$$ annoying. You start to read the post then a picture loads and the screen moves, you find it carry on reading a bit and the next pic loads - that gets right up my goat.

I pretty much agree with Apache an Nero ...

Its a pain in the backside looking at the same pictures a thousand times over!

But sometimes quotes are needed to point out that your replying to a specific post etc etc

People, did some of you bother to read my original gripe? I'm not knocking quotes as such but when the post is around twenty lines long and your reply is below that post why quote it? For goodness sake the original is just above the reply sometimes, why do you need to quote it?

If the topic runs onto another page and a portion of the original post is relevant then by all means quote it.

Anyhoo, I'm climbing down from my soapbox, I've opened one of those proverbial cans of worms and I'm putting the lid back on (for me anyway). Once again it's all down to personal preference, it annoys some but not others. Vive la difference! It's the season of goodwill to all men so to all of you who don't agree with me............................ .............
