Why Quote Huge Chunks Of A Thread???

Why do some people either cut and paste or quote huge chunks of text or copy pictures when they answer a post that's on the same page?

We all know what the topic is, and we all read the full thread, so what's the point of repeating stuff ad infinitum?

Sorry, but this is one just of the little things that shouldn't annoy me, but does!

I find that a bit annoying as well, but then again lots of things annoy me, Its just something you get used to. Its when they include half of photobucket that it really starts to grate.

I don't mind relevant quotes. Sometimes it can be a while between posts in a particular thread and I'd rather read a quote as reas the whole thread again.

The pictures-in-a-quote thing does my box in right enough...

1) Sometimes, you may not be hovering over your PC and able to reply immediately to a post, so it would not be clear who you were replying to unless you quote part of someone elses post.

2) You may want to reply to a small part of someone elses post, and use a quote to indicate which part.

It doesn't really bother me as much as putting pictures up that are too big to fit across the page without having to scroll across to see them.
