  • New Roof Lights ( 1st Picture).

After dithering on for months deciding what I wanted in the way of roof lights I finally decided against large ones. I've gone for 4" spots attached to my Thule roof bar.

Will be searching a bit later on for the wiring diagram that I have seen on here a load of times!

Will get them fitted tomorrow and hopefully wired up over the weekend (weather permitting)!

You might even get them on underneath the bar. Or maybe the bracket will allow rotation through 90 degrees and fit to the front of the bar to get them lower and closer to the roof.

Better to avoid too much light on the bonnet and clobberings from branches.

Hmmmm, good idea to have them underslung. Never thought of that. Only thing is I think the sunroof wind deflector will disrupt the light beams if they are underslung.

Truck is at work at the moment so will try it out tomorrow, thanks for the tip.

Unfortunately not, so far. More likely to hit them on those height restriction things they have hanging over car park entrances!

That's why I'll never remove my side steps... just stand on them to polish the roof, if you can't reach the middle climb onto one of the rear wheels. It's a lot easier to stand on the wheel since I had the wheel spacers fitted, you get a better foothold. Oh and I have one of those tool belts with a bottle of Meguiars wax attached to one side and a good buffing cloth on the other.

I used 17amp for my lights. You can buy small reels from Halfords, or by the metre from car ICE shops.

I open the front or rear doors and pull myself up by the roofrails and stand on the door cill.
