I would just like to add my bit ..... In the days when you sharpened the teeth on your saw (yes, I AM that old ) with a file before you went and set them, I managed to lock up my wrist so that parts of it refused to work so the shoulder and elbow compensated till I'd get an aching hand and tennis elbow. Of course, I didn't know any of this, just that I had lots of pain and an elbow that would lock in the middle of doing something naughty like writing out cheques, and just as I realised it was stuck, elbow would twitch and release and another cheque ruined ty v much!!! So off I goes to quack and I got sent off for that thing where they stick your arm in water and attach a vibrator and after weeks of wasting time I was told by NHS cretin that I'd just have to learn to live with it! ... all very depressing.
A chance meeting with friend/Osteopath, and he said ... "I can fix that" and within a couple of (painfull, but wonderfully worth it) treatments I was up and running.

So, my advice is go and seek and whatever you do, do not go quackers!

I had bilateral carpal tunnel decompressions 20 years ago (not really a good idea to get both done at once! ) Quite a few members of my family had it too. When it came to sleepless nights, I decided to have the surgery. I had nerve conduction studies done, but I am lucky my hubby is an orthopaedic hand surgeon and had a diagnosis on the spot. I have been problem free since.

Better clarify that he did not operate on me....
