Well i did the tjm suspension lift yesterday and the truck looks truly awesome now. So does my chin.....
After fitting the rear with no problems encountered, i took my spanners to the front end. Removed old strut and spring, compressed the spring and removed top plate. Then came the moment i was dreading, putting the new spring on the new strut. So, compressed the new spring, fitted it to the new strut and hey presto, i'd forgotten to put the lower rubber bush in. fortunately the compressors were still on, so undid everything put together properly and the tried to remove the compressor. This proved to be quite a job as the new springs are fat. Anyway the only way of removing them was to completely undo them, so this i did. Not realising i had left the top nut off the strut, when i undid the compressor all the way, the whole lot went bang and the bolt hit me square in the chin. Now that was paiful but to add insult to injury, the nut that was holding the compressor together embedded itself in the ceiling insulation right above the truck. So what was to be an afternoon lift job became a painful days cursing. Anyway lift now done tyres fitted on wednesday and thats it, job sheet complete. as soon as tyres are on i will post some pics so you can see for yourselves how it looks.
