Here it is so far! Just fitted some 'classic' chromed WIPAC spotlamps to it, and am looking for some decent worklights for the back. Then all that remains is finding a way of mounting it all on the truck!!
I'm planning on making four aluminium blocks, from 1" square bar of around 4" long, and bolting into them through plates inside the roof. Then tapping M8 or M10holes into them. I can then bolt the rack to them, so can still take it off if necessary.

Sounds a simple fix which are always the best way.
As long as no pikey gets 20min unsupervised access with a shifter
It came off an LC70 or LC80, it had big feet on the side which would have bolted on. I removed the feet and clamped it direct onto the roof rails with exhaust U clamps on the cross braces, little lengths of water hose gave it some give. It meant it was easy to take on/off and when it was off I was left with the stock roof rails.
Have a similar setup planned for the Surf with its roof rails.
i really like these bit wud it fit with sunroof in way?
Would depend how high you make the mounts. I've lined it up, and it goes from the back of the truck to just forward of the back of the front doors, if you know what I mean?
I dont have a sunroof, so will mount it as close to the roof as reasonable (probably around an inch off the roof)

hmm sounds like that might fit!,if after xxxmas is over i can afford one, could i pay u for sum mounts?>?
IMHO there's as much work, more if you add tapping holes, fitting mounts than fitting rails. Rails can be had for around £20 ish including postage from ebay and will look stock when the racks off.
