              Me peeked!

You've got some work to do on the house though. Having said that - WOW!!!!!
              That is sure some pond!
Was looking at some properties online myself last night and found one that said "property & lake to renovate". When I read further they meant it! Something like a couple of acres of lake but little or no water.
With a long bit of hosepipe they could probably nick some of yours and you wouldn't even notice!

Is the lake stocked or do you have to do that yourself?

When do you move over there, presumably fairly soon.

                    lake

It has got stock but not sure of any sizes etc so it's planned to drain down and assess and then stock up with carp to 30 lbs probably a couple of ton to start.I had the water tested and it's come up good so with luck the fish should put on some weight with the right feeding. We ( missus and me and surf) shall be moving over on the 1st Dec we are renting a house nearby to start and then going to get a caravan (static type) on site while we do the place up.
It's all very exciting stuff if not a little scarey but can you imagine sitting out there in my erm garden in the summer looking out over my lake with a cold beer .

Yep, I can imagine that but in my case without the lake.
The sun, the garden (land) and the cold beer will do me!
All I need to do is get this house up to scratch to make enough to do it.
A far as we're concerned, the sooner we're out of this country, the better.

Hi Gillcover, I,m doing the same thing next year, although in the west of Ireland. Built the house, bought the surf to tow the lake boat we bought last week. We are a stones throw from the river Moy, Are surrounded by more lakes than you can shake a rod at and if i get course fishing withdrawal symtoms, the river erne and shannen are an hour and a half away. Semi retirement, here I come.

                            Hiya mick p and Ken
I know what you mean Ken I was in that position for the past 5 years or so working on the house and getting it ready to sell, but I got there in the end.
We really have had enough of the U/K Im sorry to say, we are both looking forward to getting on the ferry and waving goodbye.
Yes Mick we are going to set up the lake etc as a carp fishery business, we shall have showers and loo's on site and do evening meals and breakfasts etc
and if we can would like a 6/8 birth static on site for those who dont want to do the camping (bivvy ) thing.
semi retirement,,, those words are good to my

bit concerned about the old girl tho,, no not the missus,, the surf,, think its going to be awkward getting it re registered out there, may have to sell it off
                            now that is sad

Im going to keep mine registered in England if I can at my sons address.(when we sell up we will help him with the dep. on a flat.) Road tax in eire is based on engine size and the 3.0ltr works out nearly 700 euros (so im told)
I think that they basicly do whatever the e.u. says so they can keep getting millions in grants to build roads etc.

Just been reading up on importing grey imports to France and I see what you mean, virtually impossible!

I suppose the only real alternative is to switch to non grey Toyota such as a Land Cruiser as presumably not that dissimilar at the end of the day.

Must admit, on the occasions we've been over there, we haven't seen as many 4x4s as you see over here.

Maybe the French will catch up someday!

If you get the time keep us informed of how you're getting on.
