  • No end to fuel duty rises

    Main road fuels

Current effective rate per litre (£)
    Diesel / petrol 0.4835
    Biodiesel / Bioethanol 0.2835

From 1 October 2007 Effective duty rate per litre (£)
    Diesel / petrol 0.5035
    Biodiesel / Bioethanol 0.3035

From 1 April 2008 Effective duty rate per litre (£)
    Diesel / petrol 0.5235
    Biodiesel / Bioethanol 0.3235

    From 1 April 2009
    Diesel / petrol 0.5419
    Biodiesel / Bioethanol 0.3419

The current duty differential of 20ppl for biofuels will be extended until 2009/10, in line with the alternative fuels framework.

In my opinion the duty on biofuels should at the very least be frozen indefinitely or reduced to the same differential as LPG.
By not doing so this government is proving that it does not care about saving the planet or reducing UK emissions but just wants to cream off yet more money from the British public.

erm....people have been dying in wars for years so we westerners can get their oil/gold/diamonds/tea or whatever we want that we're unprepared to pay a fair price for.

also, forget biodiesel - veg oil!!!!!!
i swear, it was like that when i got here...

Funny... I thought it was Rudolph Diesel who started using biofuel in compression ignition engines.
As for Biodiesel, I doubt a small tribe has access to the equipment to perform methyl-transesterification.

Why am I even answering this flamebait?

Isn't biodiesel made from 100% veg oil but with the fatty glycerine removed?

Rudi diesel ran his first "diesel" engine on peanut oil
