There is little chance of getting ths government to back down. I read on BBC news, in relation to possible reaction to the duty rise, an MP saying that joe public wouldn't support another fuel blockade as it would be an inconvenience.
Typical biggot.
I wish I could find the article.
Found the quote...
Mr Howard said there is no sign that motorists would support the sort of fuel protests that led to chaos in autumn 2000.
"I have not heard of any likely fuel protest and I don't think the general public would support one. They would not be too keen if a blockade of fuel depots meant they could not get any petrol and they could not, for instance, take their children to school or visit elderly relatives."

The way this government is going, nobody, but the very rich, will be able to afford to take their children to school or visit elderly relatives!
In all seriousness, does anyone know if there are going to be blockades or protests of some sort? I'm more than willing to take a day off work to show my disgust at the current state of affairs and join a rolling roadblock but after scouring the web today I've found naught.
£218.00? what are you filling up a chieftan tank? i think a full tank costs me around £60.00 at sainsburys, at the moment its cheaper to run my soarer (4ltr petrol even though it takes more petrol to fill up,) than my ssr-g (3ltr turbo diesel) though i did buy it for work. so the goverments con has come full circle get people to buy diesel vehicles of all types, keep the fuel price low to give them an incentive to buy, then up the price so there is no added advantage over petrol, the labour party really know how to look after the working classes don't they.on top of which we are governed by scots.
Soon the value of fuel will outway the value of copper, and then the pikeys and the rest of the thieving scum will turn their attention to that, and vehicles will be broken into/stolen just for the fuel they contain.
This governments taxation policies are what fuel (no punn intended) the criminal behavior in this country. It has become so difficult for the average joe to make ends meet, that they have no option but to resort to criminal activities to make ends meet.
Quite frankly, I'll vote for any government that will reduce my financial burden, even if that is the BNP/libs/cons. It certainly won't be labour, they have systematically screwed the working man/woman out of most of their hard earned money, and given it to every bleeding heart liberal cause, exept those that have earned it and deserve it.
