    Pass The Butter ~ ~ ~ ~ This is interesting . . .

    Margarine was originally manufactured to fatten turkeys. When it killed the turkeys, the people who had put all the money into the research wanted a payback so they put their heads together to figure out what to do with this product to get their money back.

    It was a white substance with no food appeal so they added the yellow coloring and sold it to people to use in place of butter.

    How do you like it?

    They have come out with some clever new flavorings.

    DO YOU KNOW...the difference between margarine and butter?

    Read on to the end...gets very interesting!

    Both have the same amount of calories.

    Butter is slightly higher in saturated fats at 8 grams compared to 5 grams.

    Eating margarine can increase heart disease in women by 53% over eating the same amount of butter, according to a recent Harvard Medical Study.

    Eating butter increases the absorption of many other nutrients in other foods.

    Butter has many nutritional benefits where margarine has a few only because they are added!

    Butter tastes much better than margarine and it can enhance the flavors of other foods.

    Butter has been around for centuries where margarine has been around for less than 100 years.

    And now, for Margarine...

    Very high in Trans fatty acids.

    Triple risk of coronary heart disease.

    Increases total cholesterol and LDL (this is the bad cholesterol) and lowers HDL cholesterol, (the good cholesterol) Increases the risk of cancers up to five fold.

    Lowers quality of breast milk.

    Decreases immune response.

    Decreases insulin response.

    And here's the most disturbing fact....

    HERE IS THE PART THAT IS VERY INTERESTING!

    Margarine is but ONE MOLECULE away from being PLASTIC...

    This fact alone was enough to have me avoiding margarine for life and anything else that is hydrogenated (this means hydrogen is added, changing the molecular structure of the substance).

    You can try this yourself:

    Purchase a tub of margarine and leave it in your garage or shaded area.

    Within a couple of days you will note a couple of things:

    * No flies, not even those pesky fruit flies will go near it (that should tell you something)

    * It does not rot or smell differently because it has no nutritional value

    * Nothing will grow on it. Even those teeny weenie microorganisms will not a find a home to grow.

    Why? Because it is nearly plastic.

    Would you melt your Tupperware and spread that on your toast?

        I'm not a butter man, or marge come to that.
        Mine has no hydrogenated oils, no artificial additives. It's low in saturates, and high in polyunsaturates.

        It's a dairy free soya spread, and has absolutly no taste at all (I hate my diet).
        Gone from 4x4 to 1x2

          best butter all my life, spread straight from fridge in slabs, use it in cakes as it makes for a richer tasting cake, never liked the other stuff, never had an illness and I eat what I like, stuff the experts, who made them experts anyway, you dont live any longer eating this tasteless $$$$, it only feels that way, I also smoke like a chimney and drink to excess on every occasion I'm out. I live my life to the full we could all drop dead tomorrow so I need to know I didn't waste any of my time. H

            I've always prefered butter over marge but felt I should be eating the marge untill I found out about the hydronated veg fat. I've seen the ***T with my own eyes before the colour and flavour goes in. Since then I've only eaten butter and Ghee. Nigela Lawsons recipes are very good if you enjoy your butter and cream.

              Got to be my grans butter that she used to make.Churn the milk straight from the cow and then start to make butter for the village shop it was beautiful.

                    I'd steer clear of the Soy products too... they will elevate your estrogen levels and that will cause you to retain fat rather than lose it... You will
                    lose muscle mass instead... not the right sort of weight loss you were expecting.

                        Well I won't touch margarine with somebody else's 20ft barge pole coz it just tastes like muck, but be wary of these circulated "factual" lists and statements.

                        A quick look around the net quickly reveals many sites which would suggest the original post contains some elements of truth, with a good measure of fiction too. I'm always wary of passing on such emails and other "statements of fact", coz many things found on the net have to be taken with a grain of salt .... particularly if not coming from a known and reputable source.

                          Have no choice, can't have any trace of dairy (and that includes most chocolate). I hate my diet.
                          Oh actually my weight has gone down, but thats mainly because of the amount of things I can't eat, read the labels when your shopping and see how many items contain milk, milk protien, milk powder, lactose.
                          I got really excited the other day when I found chocolate soya shake!!!!!

                            well did you know that a lot of margarine trans fats are responsible(along with eostregen from the birth control pill) for elevating levels or eostrogen in our waterways,there is a real concern some fish species are being hatched sterile.this is bad enough ,but some smaller species are actually deemed to be turning gay!!!

                            i thought this was all made up till i attended a symposium on the problem!!!

                            so when you say as queer as a fish,it may be truer than you think
