Originally posted by BogusNo doubt this is controversial, but is it only me that finds this seeming obsession with post counts a bit sad and pathetic?
Has anyone stopped and given it some thought as to how easy it is to get post counts in the thousands if thats what you want. What would happen to the forum if every member had this fetish ?? Would all the bandwidth and other internetty stuff get eaten up in a week? Would it crash?
Does having the most posts make one more lovable ( other than to yourself). Does it make you a better person
Not meaning to offend, just opening up a disussion ( and maybe creating opportunities for someone to get his count up)
Or am I just being a killjoy ?
Bogus
killjoy....no
missing the point...possibly.
the whole idea (imho) of an internet forum that you post things on is....well to post things.some members contribute vey few posts over a few years, some many post daily.if you took the concept to an extreme, then yes, the whole site would probably implode, but as mentioned before the purpose of this site, and this area in general, is to talk about anything on your mind.taking the other extreme, could possibly see little or no activity.i suppose its just each to their own, post if you want ,or dont post if you dont want to. the "kudos" attached to the post count is as mentioned before,a lighthearted ,long running joke and definitely not worth getting steamed aboutNon intercooled nothing.
