just a quickie folks, my surf has the speedo in MPH, its an import but it looks like the original clock, now the odometer which tells how many miles travelled seems like miles too, question is, is it in miles, and, if so my Timing belt light should come on around 120,000, shouldn't it. Hazzo

I doubt it is clicking over in miles, and the speedo face may have been changed, there are good quality faces available so it will look stock.
Yes, the T-belt light should come on at around 100k, (kms) if it don't, then it may have already been changed and the warning light button re-set.Last edited by BUSHWHACKER; 16 October 2007, 15:41.

I think the timing belt light will come on when it rolls over each 100K irrespective of miles or kilometres. On my 2.4 it come on at exactly 100,000, despite the fact that the first 80,000 was kilometers, and the next 20,000 was miles (that one has an adaptor fitted) .Paul </Slugsie>
Immortal.so far!

every single car i've bought, regardless of what the owner says, i've always done a cambelt change and service ASAP. its cheap and saves any worries and future expense...
so.....
....just change the belt now, then start counting your mileage before the next one.i swear, it was like that when i got here...

What he said, plus it only takes 30 minutes to change the belt on a 3.0.

Yeah, my philosophy too, but I know the last two previous owners, both said its a great truck and the owner at 100000 is a mechanic so I reckon he's done it, I'll ask though. Did the belt on my honda accord after buying it at 70000, it had just been done but wasn't on the history. H
The speedo hits 115.
