If you wanted Wi Fi in 23 rooms (as in hotel) but one router would not do, as the walls are very thick, what would be another way to do this. Also what would roughly be the cost? The building has 4 floors?

You can install SIGNAL BOOSTERS or Repeaters to extend the Coverage

iam not that clued up with wi fi
but like marky said you can boost them up
it may be just a case of putting it in the best place central to the building
look up wi fi shopfitters
home use stuff may be no good for a building of that size

you could use several WAP's with the same SSID (different channels though) or you can get them (netgeat prosafe etc) that you can have a master and several slaves. some of the new waps have a really good range so maybe try some of them first?

As for network stuff - you could do what Andy said, and hardware (just one CAT5 per room) and have the wireless, that way you cater for all - couple of boxes of 305Meters of cable, patch panel or two and some cheap switches that allow VALNS

The wireless APs have an RJ45 connection on the back, so they can be plugged into the switches too, then you can set one VLAN per room on the wired network, then you'd need to be a bit smarter on the WLAN stuff as to how to secure it - but Windows would probably keep most browsing down to the local PC anyway....

How are you going to charge for it? Will you use a Proxy for everyone to connect through so you can track usage??
