Yoda (my Surf) lives!
Having only ever done an oil change and changed the batteries on my truck, or any vehicle for that matter, I don't consider myself to even be a "home" mechanic.
Today I'm on fire.
I have changed the head on Yoda and the damn thing still works! Running very very smooth, all things considered. It's taken me around 4 weeks of on and off work. All of which has been on my own apart from a little help with lifting the old head off and dropping the new one on.
I was called brave by many people, I thought I may be stupid. Now I just feel like a smug git!!!!!!!!
I used a complete head from Peer parts, after I've run it for a bit I'll post a separate thread on whether or not I'd recommend this head or not. It was cheap. For now it's on and running so I'm beyond happy.
With nothing but a Haynes manual and loads of help from a few of you diamond diamond people, my truck lives.
I was super careful and organised when I was stripping the parts off to get at the head but I've still got two bolts left over And there's exhaust fumes coming from the exhaust / exhaust manifold area somewhere. I think / hope they are related.
And we won at rugby. And... and... and... SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW.
Thanks forum people, thanks Haynes, thanks Toyota.
Gavin.
