Same here. That would buy a studio flat here, with fold down bed and one room.

Much prefer the second one, I've always wanted a house with a wrap around deck.

Looks like buying a house there is a non starter then.

It goes to show how dear prices are in this country. If you are lucky and have £200,000 equity to play with and moved to Canada, that would buy you a $406,900 house. You could buy a huge house for $300,000 and have $106,000 to play with. A 2yr old Dodge Ram 1500 costs about $22,000. I know what I would do!!!

                      Blimey!

You should all move to south Wales then, cheaper houses, loads of room plenty of free off-roading, hardly any speed cameras......sheep

Downsides.......Every where you go is up a hill, the weather, valley boys who want to fight you on a Friday night after drinking anything stronger than water,............ sheep.

I bought an apartment here 11 years ago, for GB£ £175,000 - and let it out all year round (mostly to AT&T and HP employees) and my friend here bought one for $275,000 which is a 2 bed, 2 bath place, open living area, private secure parking, and the building has a gym and pool and 24 hr security.

Current prices, $320,000 for 874 sq ft 1 bed apartment here....

we should all do a syndicate or sommit..
if i won so many million now, i would invest a large chunk so that i would keep making money from the money i had won. then gradually i would give the interest away..
i said to a colleague who plays euromillions. i said if you won say 8 million, you could give 1 million to me, and charge me however much interest each month.. i would be happy with that hehe
                          Oh Nana, what's my name?

Another plot by successive governments which has gone on unabated for the last 40 years. Create a nation of homeowners, with mortgages and you create a nation of controlled sheep who cant, wont rock the boat, cos they have a millstone rounnd their neck. Sell all the council houses off to achieve the aim, next generations choice is then to buy, or live in a sink estate as all the good ones are now private estates rather than council. Theyve got you now, a nation obsessed with property ownership, property prices, mortgage rates and so on. When I was a kid, everybody lived in council houses ( slight exaggeration). I was brought up in a "tied" house. It was no big deal. I think that the right to buy thing, and the subsequent failure of councils to increase stock, ( and how could they without funds) was not necessarily a good thing. I dont think our national obsession with property and its price is necessarily a good thing, but then again Im an old git
