Havin had both 2nd and 3rd Gen i'd say 3rd gen anyday as its a much nicer to drive 4wd is mcuh better too IMO and more up to date and who says the 3rd gen is not as robust?? what a load of s**te!

Had this on another forum, the pros & cons of 2nd vs 3rd
3rd gen has the same appeal as 2nd gen (its still a Surf) plus its:-
Got more room
Has better rack and pinion steering
Has better 4WD
Has 1" bigger wheels tyres as standard
Its lighter
More fuel efficient
Coil front suspension
ABS
Air bags
Proper tail gate
And comes in Ice blue (if can't beat em join em)
